If there is anything Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh needs to cheer about right now, it is receiving an award from none other than India's nightingale Lata Mangeshkar.
The actor who is in Paris shooting for Aditya Chopra's directorial venture Befikre will be conferred with the Dinanath Mangeshkar Award in April.
In a recent statement issued to the Economic Times, the Indian singing legend said that the Mangeshkar family has decided to confer the prestigious award to Singh this year, who is a very promising actor. He recently received the Filmfare Award for the best actor in a leading role for his period drama Bajirao Mastani too.
Mangeshkar said in the statement that her family felicitates artists with the Dinanath Mangeshkar Award, which was started in the memory of their father, Dinanath Mangeshkar. It recognizes artists, who have excelled in their field of work. And as Singh has started off on a very promising note this year, they decided to felicitate him.
According to the Times of India, the melody queen of India said that she finds Singh to be a very talented man. She is floored by his positivity and loves the way he spreads cheerfulness wherever he goes. She also said that he is a positive human being.
The glittering award ceremony will be held in Pune in the month of April this year, where Singh will receive the award at the hands of the legendary singer. He is currently riding high on the success of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani, where he played the Maratha ruler Bajirao Bhallal.
The actor, who rose to stardom with his portrayal of a street smart Haryanvi guy, Bittoo Sharma, in Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010, starred in a number of films, including Lootera, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Gunday and Bajirao Mastani to name a few.
