Several reports confirm that renowned actor Steve Buscemi has teamed up with indie rock band Vampire Weekend to direct a live stream of an upcoming concert at New York's Roseland Ballroom. Turns out that 55-year-old Buscemi is the long-lost cousin of bassist Chris Baio! The show will be held on April 28, 2013. Vampire Weekend recently hit up their official Twitter page to announce the exciting news to their fans. The concert will be streamed on the popular video-sharing websites YouTube and VEVO.
The Vampire Weekend concert Busemi is set to direct is part of a series deemed American Express Unstaged - The Killers, Usher, and Jack White are just some artists that were previously featured in the series.
On March 29, "The Kids Don't have a Chance" musicians tweeted:
@vampireweekend: "EXCITING NEWS - Chris Baio has been working on a family tree for months and just discovered he is a distant cousin of actor Steve Buscemi... He has reached out to Mr. Buscemi who was VERY EXCITED about the connection. We are thrilled about the potential for showbiz synergy... There is more exciting news to come! For now, look at these beautiful, long-lost cousins."
The tweets soon went viral, prompting the band to post this rather amusing follow-up message:
@vampireweekend: "SAAB-ENTHUSIAST STEVE BUSCEMI IS NOT AMUSED BY TODAY'S NY POST"
And finally...
@vampireweekend: "Save the date: Steve Buscemi to direct the livestream of our 4/28 #AmexUNSTAGED show in #NYC" (along with this link).
Buscemi, who has starred in several classic films including "The Big Lebowski," "Resevoir Dogs" and "Ghost World," also has experience with directing (he's even worked on episodes of "The Sopranos" and "30 Rock").
So, how many fans are pumped to tune into the live Vampire Weekend stream directed by Steve Buscemi?
