Although the eleventh episode of The Walking Dead Season 6 put the spotlight on the Hilltop Colony, it was evident that the fear of Negan was in the air. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group finally got a taste of what Jeffrey Dean Morgan's villain is capable of when a Hilltop member was sent back to assassinate Gregory (Xander Berkeley). It certainly feels like Negan will be making his appearance pretty soon. But will we finally see the merciless comic villain on the AMC series?
According to The Wrap, The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple recently hinted that previous reports were mistaken by saying that Morgan will make his debut as Negan in the season finale.
"There have been articles pinpointing exactly when Negan shows up, and that's a bit disappointing because they may not be entirely true," Gimple said before revealing that the villain could show up much sooner in the show.
"There's kind of a buildup, but you might even see him next episode," he confirmed. "Absolutely."
It may have been comforting to just stop there, but Gimple continued, "Well, sort of. Well, definitely. Well, maybe. Maybe not. But possibly."
"Knots Untie" certainly suggested a possibility that Negan will be coming to Alexandria soon, especially since Hilltop will be trading with the group. It may only be a matter of time before the Saviors cross paths with one of the Alexandrians, or if Gregory decides to rat them out to Negan.
In the comic books, Negan was introduced in the 100th episode and immediately proceeded to torment Rick by murdering Glenn in front of his group. The villain then forges a friendship with Carl, but not without getting the boy upset first. There is a huge possibility that the TV show will be following Negan's comic book storyline, which means death for a major character.
The Walking Dead Season 6 airs on AMC every Sunday nights.
