Women's golfer Michelle Wie may seem older because she has been very good at playing golf for a very long time. The 23-year-old LGPA tour player became the youngest player to qualify for the USGA amateur championship at the age of 10. However, the downside of being so good is facing criticism, even from her peers. Fellow LPGA golfer Annika Sorenstam, one of the most successful female golfers in history criticized Wie in the May edition of Golf Magazine. Now, apparently Sorenstam has apologized to Wie after reaching out to the young golfer.

Sorenstam, who is a golf veteran at the age of 42, apparently also told Wie she was misquoted in the article. "She actually reached out to me last night, said a couple of things got misquoted," Wie said according to ESPN. "I thought that was really nice of her to reach out to me. She apologized for what she said, and that's that." Sorenstam reportedly criticized Wie in a question and answer piece in Golf Magazine. Since becoming a golf prodigy, Wie has struggled to live up to high expectations.

When asked if Wie could become the best female golfer in the world Sorenstam said, "She has a long way to go, let's put it that way. There was a time when the LPGA really needed her. I thought she had a lot to bring to the table. Now she's one out of many."

"What I see now is that the talent that we all thought would be there is not there," Sorenstam reportedly told Golf Magazine. Sorenstam went on to question Wie's decision to play with male golfers in some tournaments. "I don't think it helped her career," said the Swedish golfer. "I think we see some of it today. I think she jumped in way too deep, and I think it had some tough consequences for her."

Wie is currently competing alongside 15-year-old New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
