Tamil megastar Rajinikanth, who was seen in the blockbuster Robot with director S. Shankar, will soon be seen reprising his dual role of Dr Vasi and Chitti Babu in Robot 2, titled 2.0 for Tamil viewers. Bollywood action star and Rustom actor Akshay Kumar will be seen playing the main antagonist and has started shooting for the sci-fi feature film.
Robot, which saw Rajinikanth in a never-seen-before avatar of that of a friendly humanoid, which turns into the protagonist's bitter enemy, falling for his fiancée, played by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, had become one of the highest-grossing Rajinikanth movies of all time.

And now, when the project will have a sequel soon, it is set to get bigger and better with Kumar joining onboard as the main villain. According to Bollywood Hungama, this will also mark Bollywood action star's debut in Tamil cinema. Kumar, who has begun shooting for Neeraj Pandey's Rustom, recently flew to Chennai to shoot for Robot 2, which is being produced by Lyca Productions and will have Amy Jackson in the lead.
Academy Award winner A R Rahman is set to join the crew as the music director of the movie. Kumar is likely to be in Chennai for a couple of weeks to complete the schedule of the big-budget sci-fi thriller.
After Kumar is done shooting for the high-octane action sequences with Rajinikanth, he is likely to return to resume Pandey's Rustom, where he will be seen in the role of a navy officer. The duo had given astonishing hits in the past including Special 26 and Baby.
Pandey, known to make movies on different topics. is expected to give another surprise with Rustom. The first look of the film had Kumar, dressed in a white Indian naval uniform, which resembles an admiral. In one of his tweets, Kumar had also mentioned playing a decorated officer in Pandey's upcoming film.

Rustom is slated for release on August 12, 2016, and on the other hand, Robot 2 is scheduled for release in mid-2017.
