After becoming a blockbuster hit in theaters, Disney is bringing Stars Wars 7 to home entertainment. With the announcement of the official release date, watch Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in the special features of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-Ray.
As we previously mentioned, the seventh installment of the Star Wars franchise is set approximately 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi. The end of Darth Vader's reign came with a price for both our heroes and villains. Stepping in for Darth Vader, Kylo Ren (Driver) is trying to fill the empty void left by The Emperor, which forces the reunion of old faces, including Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), and new ones, including Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Ridley).
According to Variety, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced the release dates during the Walt Disney Company's Annual Meeting of Shareholders at Roosevelt University in Chicago. Shareholders received special "Star Wars" posters in their swag bags during the meeting. There was a special code included for a free download of The Force Awakens when digital download goes live on April 1.
On the official Star Wars Facebook page, the caption states, "It's true. All of it. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is coming home! Packed with bonus content, behind the scenes extras and more, take home the latest chapter in the Star Wars saga this April."
