Katrina Law is undoubtedly great at being a tough woman on TV. After all, she plays the League of Assassins warrior Nyssa al Ghul in Season 4 of CW series Arrow. Now it looks like Law will be gearing up for more action in the upcoming CBS pilot for Training Day with Bill Paxton!
Deadline has just announced that the Arrow actress has been cast in the series spinoff of the Denzel Washington film. Law will play Detective Rebecca Lee, who is described as a "LAPD officer with the LAPD's Special Investigation Section (S.I.S.)." According to the report, Law's character has a close bond with Paxton's Frank Rourke, who had saved her from human traffickers when Rebecca was a child. Rebecca considers Frank as a father figure despite the character being morally ambiguous.
Training Day is based on the Antoine Fuqua film, which follows an idealistic African-American police officer who gets assigned to an LAPD elite squad for Paxton's character. Although the series is still in its pilot phase, there is a huge possibility that CBS will pick it up for a full series.
Although this could be a huge break for Law, fans are understandably worried that the role would mean that there would be less of Nyssa on Arrow. Nevertheless, Law is still hopeful that her character will have more appearances on the show, especially in episodes that will follow the backstory of Nyssa and Sara Lance (Caity Lotz).
"I would definitely love to see the scene where I find Sara Lance on the beach and how I bring her back to our camp, how my father reacts to that and the whole evolution of our relationship, as well as her training, how she gained her fighting skills and the development of our love for each other," she told Comic Book Resources.
Training Day will hopefully get picked up by CBS and air later this year.
