Say it ain't so! Is there a rift between Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi? According to reports there may be a feud brewing between the New Jersey rockers. According to Bon Jovi's website, Sambora will not be performing with the band on an upcoming leg of shows. The band is currently on their "Because We Can" 2013 world tour. Their latest album "What About Now" was released in March.
The band has stayed quite active recently with their new album and world tour. Bon Jovi also appeared on a season 12 "American Idol" results show to perform "Because We Can" off the new album. In addition, back in November of 2012, the band released a live video album titled Inside Out.
As far as the rumored feud between Sambora and Bon Jovi, a source told TMZ, there was a "classic Jagger/Richards blowup." On Wednesday, BonJovi.com released the following statement, "Due to personal issues, Richie Sambora will not be performing on this upcoming leg. All shows will go on as scheduled." Obviously the band is not going to release a statement saying Sambora isn't performing because he and Bon Jovi aren't getting a long, but these all could just be rumors. However, TMZ's sources are telling the website that Jon constantly "belittles" Richie. The source is also saying that they are fighting over money.
During a recent concert in Calgary, where Sambora did not show, Jon announced to the crowd, "I had two choices: pack up and go home or give you everything I got ... Richie Sambora won't be performing for a while. If there's ever a night I need you, it's tonight, Calgary!" Sambora has missed tour shows in the past, but those were usually because the guitarist was in rehab for issues with alcohol. It appears this time, that is not the case.
Sources told TMZ that Sambora's camp is hoping something can be worked out before Bon Jovi's tour stop April 19 in Los Angeles. Before that show, the band has nine shows, including a show Friday night in Winnipeg.
Are you team Bon Jovi or team Sambora in this alleged feud?
