Blindspot S01E12: Scientists Hollow Fortune Jaimie Alexander Sullivan Stapleton Premiere Recap

NBC continues with the midseason premiere of Blindspot. In episode 12, will Jane Doe (Jaimie Alexander) and Kurt Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) be able to solve another piece of the tattoo map in Scientists Hollow Fortune? 

On the rooftop, Jane's first mission is to grab Bethany Mayfair (Marianne Jean-Baptiste)'s pen and make the switch. Oscar tells Jane that she is a cog in the machine. Jane breaks one the replica but can't find anything odd. While Kurt jokes around with his sister, a mysterious man finds himself wandering the street by himself.

Kurt and Jane have an awkward moment when they see each other. It's too complicated between them. At the base, the stranger starts fighting the soldiers and steals the truck. Patterson (Ashley Johnson) realizes the stranger, who happens to be dead in his records, is part of Jane's tattoos. 

Patterson discovers Charlie is part of a cell, listed among four other soldiers. At a house, Kurt finds Charlie standing next to a crib, asking for his mother. Jane suddenly remembers Charlie from her boot camp days. After Jane calms him down, Kurt takes the chance to arrest him.

In the interrogation room, Charlie remember seeing in Hell, tortured by the Devil. The same drug used to erase Jane's memories was found in Charlie's bloodstream. Patterson theorizes Charlie has been drugged to be in a constant state of fight or flight. Bethany wants to bring in Charlie's mother so that his memories can return.

During his mother's visit, Charlie says God told him to go home. Jane asks Kurt why he hasn't forgiven his father. Bethany wonders if Patterson will take a leave of absence. Bethany warns her; the longer she runs, it will hurt when it catches her. Patterson though doesn't want to listen to her.

As Charlie is handed over to the army, the team discovers the four soldiers are linked to Northlake's experiments. After the prison van crashes, Charlie is kidnapped by a group of mercenaries.  Using a map, the team points out  the location where Charlie escaped from.

At the lab, while the mercy are destroying evidence, Tasha (Audrey Esparza) figures out what Charlie meant by "Face of God." In a flashback, Jane remembers screwing up the rope-climbing test. The team finds four dead soldiers and believe Charlie is being held captive. Patterson unlocks the videos of Charlie's past experiments.

As the experiments continue on Charlie, the team hurries to the storage room. Edgar (Rob Brown) finds himself in fighting mode as a shootout commences. Tasha takes out a merc as Charlie manages to escape. Jane chases after Charlie across a rooftop before the two end up in a brawl. Kurt shoots charlie in the back before he could pull the trigger on Jane.

Kurt defends the clean shooting but Jane walks away from him. In the flashback, Jane remembers the program Orion and how she wanted to become a part of it. After Bethany and Jane argue over Charlie, Mayfair leaves the office. Jane takes the opportunity to make the switch of the pen.  

As Kurt spends time with his father, Edgar is actually dating his sister. Kurt discovers his father was trying to kill himself. Jane learns from Oscar that Orion is where she died.
