Wilmer Valderrama, best known for his role as Fez in the beloved period sitcom That '70s Show, has landed a multi-episode story arch in Shonda Rhimes' ABC universe: he's set to join the Grey's Anatomy season 12 cast! The actor, who also happens to be Demi Lovato's boyfriend, has been cast as Kyle Diaz in the long-running medical drama.
According to Variety, Valderrama has just snagged the role for multiple episodes this season. Though other than the name, details of the character still remain unclear. This will be the actor's first foray into Shondaland, as Grey's carries on after killing off one of its main characters last year, when Patrick Dempsey was laid off from the show.
Valderrama's new character is part of a mild update to the show, which is currently going through after the death of Dr. Derek Shepherd. Since then, Giacomo Gianniotti's Dr. Andrew DeLuca has become a regular member of the cast and Martin Henderson was also brought in for the role of Dr. Nathan Riggs. Could Valderrama become a series regular eventually?

Following the That 70's Show finale, Valderrama has had numerous television roles, including appearances on Suborgatory and Raising Hope, besides voicing the title character in the popular children's show Handy Manny.
In any case, this is certainly a busy time for the 36-year-old actor's career. Currently, Valderrama stars on El Rey Network's From Dusk Till Dawn. And he was also cast on the CBS pilot Four Stars, besides being on last year's Minority Report from Fox, though that show was seemingly canceled after only 10 episodes.
While this will be the first time Valderrama himself appears on Grey's, he does have ties to the iconic Shondaland drama: Valderrama's former girlfriend, Mandy Moore, had a multi-episode arc on Grey's Anatomy a few seasons back, when she played Mary Portman in 2010.
