The American political thriller drama, Homeland is gearing up for a season 6 premiere in October 2016. While the plot of the upcoming season is still unclear, showrunner and co-creator Alex Gansa recently teased the fans on the possibility of Nicolas Brody's (Damian Lewis) daughter, Dana (Morgan Frances Saylor) to become a CIA officer.
The finale episode of Season 5 of Homeland showed the undecided fate of show's two main characters. The last episode titled, A False Glimmer, showed a series of accidental events despite Carrie Mathison's (Claire Danes) attempt to save the day. The show ended when she finds Peter Quinn's (Rupert Friend) emotionally drenched letter but the showrunners did not show what exactly happened with Quinn. Is he still alive or is he dead? So, there are chances that Season 6 will begin the story by describing the current lives of Mathison living in NYC with her daughter, Frannie.
Frannie was first introduced in the first episode of Season 4, The Drone Queen. In later episodes, it was shown how Mathison was finding it too difficult to raise her infant daughter and after the death of Brody, she sees no point in being a mother and tries to avoid the child as often as she could. However, in the first episode of Season 5, Separation Anxiety, we saw Mathison's love for her now 2-year-old daughter.
On the other hand, after the death of Brody, things were left undiscussed about the future of the entire Brody family. Now there are strong chances that the showrunners, Gansa and Showtime President Gary Levine will come on a story that may deal with Dana as she was one of the strong characters who can carry the series on their shoulder. In an interview with Sioux City Journal, Gansa did shed some light on the possibility of Dana becoming a CIA officer.
"I'm still interested in the Brody family, though. I know they caused grimaces across the Internet...What if she (Dana) became a CIA officer, right? That would be so interesting."
Dana is likely to become a CIA officer as she still needs answers about the life and death of her father.
Well, what will happen between the prominent characters of Homeland is still is a mystery. However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Levine stated the future of Quinn.
"Quinn is severely damaged. There is no question about it. The life-or-death question remains. But if he should live, it will not be in any way, shape or form the way he has lived to date."
Homeland will return on Showtime in Oct. 2016.
