'Kapoor and Sons' Star Fawad Khan Regrets Rejecting Aamir Khan's 'PK'

Though Pakistani actor Fawad Khan has only done one feature film in Indian Film Industry, he has by now succeeded in creating a huge fan base from India. He is nowbusy promoting his second Bollywood venture, Kapoor & Sons, directed by Shakun Batra, although the one thing which Fawad regrets after getting a huge fan following is rejecting Aamir Khan's superhit film PK.

During an interview, Fawad revealed that he was offered the role of Pakistani character named Sarfraz Yousuf in Rajkumar Hirani's PK. However, Fawad had to refuse it due to his prior commitments for the film Kapoor & Sons.

He was asked to play the love interest of actress Anushka Sharma in the film. After his refusal, actor Sushant Singh Rajput was cast as the character.

Lamenting his refusal, Fawad in a conversation with IANS revealed that when he was approached by Hirani for the role of the Pakistani character, he was busy with prior commitments to Kapoor & Sons.

"I only let any opportunities go when I am aware of all the aspects, but I regret it when I have to leave an opportunity due to commitment issues, which is in the case of PK," Fawad added.

PK is a fictional tale featuring an assortment of different genres like science fiction, comedy, drama, emotions, romance and fantasy. It tells the story of an alien who is left alone on earth and how he combats different superstitious beliefs of the people for his survival. According to Box Office Capsule, featuring Aamir and Anushka in lead, PK has earned $43 million dollars.

Kapoor & Sons is Fawad Khan's return to the big screen after a gap of two years. He made his Bollywood debut with the film Khoobsurat. Had he taken up PK, then this film would have been his third project in Bollywood.

Also featuring Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra, Rajat Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor and Ratna Pathak Shah, Kapoor & Sons is a tale showing how two brothers fall in love with the same girl while visiting their parents. Fawad plays the role of an elder brother.

NDTV Movies reported that Kapoor & Sons will release on March 18, so it is just a couple of days to find out whether leaving PK for Kapoor & Sons was a good decision for Fawad or not.
