Reports confirm that 33-year-old Osvaldo Quiroz-Lopez, a Cookie Monster impersonator who works the touristy streets of Times Square in NYC, was arrested on Sunday (April 7) after shoving a two-year-old fan to the ground. Apparently the young boy's mother didn't tip the "friendly" blue Muppet after he posed for a photograph... and Quiroz-Lopez just snapped. He started cursing when the woman wouldn't hand over the $2, and ultimately pushed her son to the ground. The angry Monster was eventually handcuffed and charged with reckless endangerment/assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

As the New York Post reports, Quiroz-Lopez was walking around the streets of Times Square dressed as Cookie Monster, looking to pose for snapshots with some eager young fans. An unidentified mother and her two-year-old son from Connecticut decided to take advantage of the opportunity. But after the friendly photo, Cookie Monster demanded a minimum $2 tip. When the woman wouldn't pay, Quiroz-Lopez began harassing her and the young boy. He started yelling and cursing, and at one point shoved the scared child to the ground.

Police finally arrived at the scene and arrested the disgruntled Sesame Street impersonator. He was charged with reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child.

This isn’t the first time Sesame Street has wrought havoc on the Streets of NYC as the Inquisitr reports:

This isn't the first time one of the Muppets has gotten into trouble off of Sesame Street. Cookie Monster is wanted for the theft of a giant cookie statue, and Elmo was arrested at Times Square last year. But the Muppets aren’t the only trouble makers. Super Mario was also put behind bars after a trip to Times Square.
