Judge Judy will be laying down the law for a few more years. The popular daytime TV court show judge will continue to be broadcast on CBS through at least 2017. Judy Sheindlin agreed to a deal with CBS adding two more years onto her current deal. Judy is arguably the most popular of all the daytime judges with her show "Judge Judy" broadcasting its 17th season. If Judy continues through her new deal, she will be on air for over 21 seasons.

"Judge Judy" averages over nine million viewers a day, more than any other daytime TV show according to The Hollywood Reporter. CBS Global Distribution CEO Armando Nunez said in a statement, "We are grateful to Judy for her continued unparalleled ratings and her one-of-a-kind style. She is truly the Queen of Daytime and we couldn't be happier that she will continue her trademark sense of justice and humor with CTD and her stellar station line up through 2017." This seems like a no-brainer for CBS as "Judge Judy" has been a consistent ratings winner for the network over a number of years.

The agreement gives Judy even more security, knowing she will be employed until at least 2017. "Twenty-one is a terrific number," Judy said in a statement. "It's when you officially become an adult, it's a winning hand in blackjack and it's the number of seasons we will have hit in 2017. I am so fortunate to have a job that I still love, working with a staff I respect and with a company who is at the top of their game."

This news comes just weeks after CBS cancelled one of their other court TV shows, "Judge Joe Brown." The show was the second highest rated court show in syndication behind "Judge Judy." According to The Hollywood Reporter, negotiations broke down over Judge Brown's $20 million a year salary. Brown's ratings had been in decline and that may have contributed to the shows cancellation.
