Heading into the start of Week 2 of the MLB 2013 regular season,Bleacher Report sports columnist Joel Reuter predicts the season outlook team power rankings. The Mets head into the 2013 regular season at the no 20 spot - as Reuter points out, "Despite the concerns surrounding their offense entering the season, the Mets rank as one of the league's highest-scoring teams thus far. They've tallied 36 runs through their first six games. Daniel Murphy, John Buck and Colin Cowgill have each hit two home runs, and Buck leads the team with nine RBI and eight hits. On the pitching side of things, Matt Harvey threw a gem in his first start, allowing just one hit in seven scoreless innings while striking out 10. Jon Niese has been strong through two starts as well, and the staff has a 2.33 ERA, second-best in MLB."
The Mets currently hold a 5-2 winning record.
The Phillies snag the no 19 overall spot (out of 30 teams). According to Reuter, "The Phillies took one game each from the Braves and Royals to open the season, and an MLB-worst 7.10 ERA out of their pitching staff is a big reason why. Cliff Lee and John Lannan both pitched well in their starts, but Cole Hamels has been shelled in each of his first two. Roy Halladay turned in one of the oddest pitching lines you'll ever see in his start. He struck out nine in 3.1 innings of work but allowed five runs, including a pair of home runs. Chase Utley is off to a promising start at 9-for-23 with seven RBI, but as a whole, the team ranks near the middle of the pack offensively. They've been unable to make up for their poor pitching performances.
Philly heads into Tuesday's game with two wins and five losses after playing the Atlanta Braves and Kansas City Royals.
The ball game will be broadcasted live on SNY and PHL 17, but fans can listen in on the radio at WFAN, 1210 WPHT, and WZXL.
