After dating for eight and a half months, interior designer and former television personality Nate Berkus has popped the question to his boyfriend, Rachel Zoe's former assistant Jeremiah Brent. According to a representative for the couple, the 41-year-old Berkus proposed to Brent while on top of Machu Picchu in Peru. The couple was on a shopping trip for a designer sale project that Berkus is currently working on for the One Kings Lane website. Brent was apparently (and figuratively) blown away by the marriage proposal.
Nate had his own show. "The Nate Berkus Show," from 2010 to 2012 on the OWN television network. Prior to dating Brent, Berkus suffered the loss of his longtime partner Fernando Bengoechea when he was killed in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami while the two were vacationing there.
Jeremiah Brent is mainly known for being the former assistant of fashion television personality Rachel Zoe. He lives in Los Angeles while his new fiancé lives and works in New York. The two have split their time between the two coasts during their eight and a half months of dating (as seen in the above picture from Berkus' Twitter account, taken in November).
As of now, there have yet to be any wedding announcements, it will most likely be on the top of Berkus' priorities. He already has a full schedule that includes running a successful line of Target home goods, designing in general, and he is even an author. Berkus released his book, "The Things That Matter," in October.
The joining of these two fashionable men will surely result in a glorious wedding. This could be one of the most anticipated weddings of the near future.
What do you think of this engagement? Clearly it was a romantic proposal being that it was on top of a picturesque mountain. But is it too soon for the couple?
