The sequel to the highly successful Kingsman: The Secret Service is officially happening, and the film has just confirmed the return of Matthew Vaughn as director! In addition to that, the second Kingsman movie has a new working title, amazing concept art, interesting plot details and a dangerous new villain in The Hunger Games star, Julianne Moore!
Vaughn recently spoke to Empire magazine (via ComicBookMovie.com), where it was revealed that the film will be titled Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The director admitted that he was initially unsure whether he should take on the project, but eventually changed his mind after getting details of the new storyline.
"I didn't know if I wanted to direct this or not," Vaughn revealed, adding that there was one thing he was concerned about: "I was worried about the villain. Spy films are only as good as their villains."
However, it looks like inspiration took over instantly.
"One morning I woke up with the whole storyline in place, and a new villain plot," he shared.

The Golden Circle will feature the return of Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) as they head off to the US to work with Statesman, the American version of their spy organization, after a terrifying attack on the Kingsman HQ by Poppy (Moore). From there, they will enlist the help of an agent named Jack as well as a new character called Ginger, who will be played by Academy Award winner Halle Berry. The concept art for the sequel reveals a ruined Kingsman HQ, the whimsical design for the Statesman HQ as well as the lair of Moore's villain known as Poppyland.

But is there any possibility that Colin Firth's iconic church scene from the first film will be recreated in The Golden Circle? Vaughn says it might not be possible.
"You try not to read what people want, but they do want another church sequence," he said before explaining that although it will not happen, there are more exciting things to look forward to.
"I have no reason for another massacre to happen, but I have other sequences you've never seen before," Vaughn confirmed.
There is no word yet on when Kingsman: The Golden Circle will begin production.
