From The Sixth Sense director, M. Night Shyamalan,Wayward Pines, returns for Season 2 on Fox. Check out the first look promo featuring new stars Jason Patric and Djimon Hounsou will discover the mystery behind the residents of Wayward Pines.
As we previously mentioned, the first season followed Secret Service agent Ethan Burke (Dillon), who was in the middle of an investigation when his car was suddenly hit by a truck. Outside of Wayward Pines, Ethan's wife Theresa (Shannyn Sossamon) is wondering why her husband has gone missing. Waking up, Ethan finds himself trapped in a strange town where anyone could either be an ally or enemy. When Ethan suddenly finds a familiar face, an ex lover, Kate (Gugino), he asks if he's having a relapse just like before. Ethan isn't sure if he's being manipulated or if he really is suffering a mental breakdown.
As reported by IGN, Fox has unveiled the first look at the second season of Wayward Pines during WonderCon. Showrunner Chad Hodge will not be returning for the second season. Executive producer M. Night Shyamalan and novelist Blake Crouch, who wrote the book series, are still attached to the project. .
According to Variety, the plot synopsis for the sophomore season follows Dr. Theo Yedlin (Patric).The good doctor finds himself in Wayward Pines as a new resident. Theo becomes swept up in a rebellion against the oppressive rule of the First Generation. Theo may have an enemy or ally in the thoughtful and philosophical Mitchum (Hounsou), who happens to be a former teacher,. Mitchum must make a decision that will affect the fate of Wayward Pines and every resident living there.
New cast members include Nimrat Kaur (Homeland ), who plays Theo's wife Rebecca, Josh Helman has landed the role of Xander and Kacey Rohl (Hannibal) will play Kerry.
Season 2 of Wayward Pines premieres on Fox Wednesday, May 25 at 9 p.m.
