Fans were undoubtedly excited when it was recently confirmed that Ben Affleck is working on a "really cool" script for a possible Batman solo flick, but is there any possibility that the Academy Award winner will direct the film? Zack Snyder certainly hopes so. In fact, the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director has been trying to convince the Argo actor to take on the project!
Snyder recently spoke to JOE.ie, where he confirmed that he has been trying to get Affleck to direct the Batman movie.
"I keep working on him," Snyder admitted then stated that Affleck prefers not to work on several projects at the same period. "He's always said he's a one movie at a time guy," he said.
Snyder also revealed that Affleck is currently working on a personal project before his next DC flick.
"He's finishing editing his film, Live By Night, and then he comes to Justice League," he shared before adding a hopeful remark. "Then after that, I think he's going to try and develop the [Batman] story," Snyder said. "Then we'll see if he likes it."
Affleck has recently confirmed that he is working on "something" with DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns, an admission that was instantly speculated to be the screenplay for the Batman solo movie. Just a few weeks later, the co-CEO of Affleck's talent agency, WME-IMG, revealed that the Gone Girl star has written a Batman script.
The idea of Affleck writing AND directing a Batman solo film might be unbelievably exciting for fans of both the actor and the Dark Knight, but there is just one more thing to worry about: Warner Bros. has yet to address whether they will be adding another live-action Batman flick to the DC Extended Universe lineup. Hopefully, the studio will realize that a Batffleck movie is exactly what everyone is waiting for.
