"Right now, there are many groups, businesses, and individuals in North Carolina working to oppose and overcome these negative developments," Springsteen said in a statement. "Taking all of this into account, I feel that this is a time for me and the band to show solidarity for those freedom fighters."
He added that "Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them."
Fans will receive refunds for tickets to the concert that was scheduled for Sunday in Greensboro, North Carolina, it said.

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory signed the Public Facilities Privacy & Security Act late last month after the state's General Assembly went into a special session to push through the legislation.
Some supporters of the law said allowing transgender people to choose their restroom could lead to women and children being attacked. They said they feared that men could pose as transgender people and use legal protections as a cover.
