This year's Marvel Cinematic Universe event, Captain America: Civil War, isn't even out yet and the people behind the Disney property are already working on what's to come, including the even bigger Avengers: Infinity War. Now, it seems there will be one film before it will be setting up the ground for the massive fight against Thanos: the Chris Hemsworth-led sequel, Thor: Ragnarok!
Joe and Anthony Russo, the directors of Civil War and the upcoming two-part Infinity War, recently talked to Comic Book about the MCU's future, which as 11 movies scheduled from this year until 2019.
"I'm excited to work with Thor," said one of the Russo brothers, Joe. "They're doing some really interesting stuff with Ragnarok and where he's gonna be at the beginning of Infinity War is gonna be a very interesting place and I think very profound. I think he's gonna have a real emotional motivation after that."
During the same interview, the Russos also confirmed one more character for the Infinity Wars movies: Star-Lord, played by Chris Pratt. So far, the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy and the rest of his crew haven't been involved in earthly business, but seeing as Thanos taking over the Infinity Stones would affect everyone, it seems logical that they'd get some of the action.
Of course, the entire MCU is connected, from the ABC and Netflix TV shows to every single movie that has come out so far, so it's no surprise that the events of one of the films affects the rest.
It's also not that big a shock that Thor: Ragnarok, which will be "a universal road movie" according to Hulk actor, Mark Ruffalo, would see the first serious bits of the massive interstellar conflict -- particularly after Thanos (Josh Brolin) vowed to take matters in his own hands at the end of last year's Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Thor: Ragnarok will hit theaters on November 3, 2017. Aside from Hemsworth and Banner, the film will also co-star Jaimie Alexander, Tom Hiddleston and possibly Cate Blanchett.
