America might have shed a tear earlier this week as they lost one of their favorite reality competitions when American Idol found its last superstar and turned off the lights for good... or so we think. Julianne Hough's ex Ryan Seacrest confused audiences about the show as he gave a cryptic finale goodbye to the Twitter audience as he signed-off.
According to Us Weekly, the radio personality and reality show host left America with the hope that the series could possibly be returning for new episodes, as he said the he was signing off "for now," when he gave his goodbye speech.

Following the crowning of winner Trent Harmon, Seacrest was ready to bring the lights down on the series, but left viewers scratching their heads when he said, "One more time- this is so tough- we say to you, from Hollywood, goodnight America. For now."
After the quote left a lot of people confessed, Seacrest took to his Twitter account to try to clear up his statement, writing, "I didn't want to say goodbye last night. Thank you for 15 amazing seasons #IdolFinale."

However, it wasn't just Seacrest who left fans with a glimmer of hope for the future, but also creator Simon Fuller who gave a promise that the FOX series would be making its way back to the air eventually, saying it will "certainly be coming back," one day, according to Billboard.
"There will no doubt be another format or refinement or elevation of the format," the 55-year-old producer stated "Now I can actually revamp it and come up with a new version. And we can look back on 15 seasons and think of some legitimate ways to allow people to enjoy them again, maybe adding another dimension to it."
"My head is exploding with opportunities. The next generation of Idol," the mind behind the show explained. "Idol will certainly be coming back for sure - will have a youthful glow and it will be pioneering again, just as it was when we first began."
