According to Rob Abruzzese, "It was obvious with all of their injuries that the Yankees would start slowly, but a poor first week from Robinson Cano and the pitching staff meant that it was an even worse week than some of the more optimistic fans expected."

After playing the Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, and Cleveland Indians, NY has five wins and four losses. Yanks proved victorious over the Orioles in Game 1 with a score of 5-2.
