The Tampa Bay Rays battle the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 of the series on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 11:5 p.m. ET at the legendary Fenway Park in Boston, MA. Heading into the start of Week 2 of the MLB 2013 regular season, Bleacher Report sports columnist Joel Reuter predict the season outlook team power rankings. The Rays currently rank the no 21 overall team. As Reuter points out, "With a .212 average and an AL-low 33 runs scored, the Rays offense has been far from improved in the early going this season. Ben Zobrist (.316 BA, 9 RBI) and Evan Longoria (.306 BA) have paced the offense, but the rest of the team's bats have struggled so far. In years past, they've relied on their pitching staff, but they've posted a 4.48 ERA as a group so far. Matt Moore (2-0, 0.00 ERA) and Alex Cobb (1-1, 1.93 ERA) have both been great, but the rest of the staff has struggled early."

Tampa Bay currently holds a 4-7 winning record, having just played the Baltimore Orioles, Cleveland Indians, and Texas Rangers.

The Red Sox snag the no 12 overall spot (out of 30 teams). According to Reuter, "After spending big to fill out their lineup with veterans this offseason, it's been the pitching staff that has led the Red Sox to a 7-4 start in 2013. Clay Buchholz (3-0, 0.41 ERA, 23 K, 22 IP) has pitched like an ace, and Jon Lester (2-0, 1.42 ERA) has continued his strong play after a dominant spring. No one in particular is having a huge season so far offensively, but the team has scored 53 runs in through 11 games to rank fifth in the American League. They should only get better with the return of David Ortiz later this week."

After playing the New York Yankees, Toronto Blue Jays, and Baltimore Orioles, Boston has seven wins and four losses. The Sox defeated the Rays in Game 1 and Game 2 with a score of 2-1 and 5-0.

Game 1 between Tampa Bay and Boston was postponed on Friday, April 12.

Jackie Robinson Day: 

A traditional event which occurs annually in Major League Baseball, commemorating and honoring the day Jackie Robinson made his major league debut. April 15 was Opening Day in 1947, Robinson's first season in the Major Leagues. Initiated for the first time on April 15, 2004, Jackie Robinson Day is celebrated each year on that day. The festivity is a result of Robinson's memorable career, best known for becoming the first black major league baseball player of the modern era in 1947. His debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers (today known as the Los Angeles Dodgers) ended approximately eighty years of baseball segregation, also known as the baseball color line, or color barrier. He also was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962, remembered for his services with the number 42 jersey.
