The ABC Marvel Cinematic Universe shows have joined a war to the death on Spike: and the first clip comes from Agents of SHIELD star Clark Gregg! The actor who's been playing Agent Phil Coulson since Iron Man is facing Agent Carter actress Hayley Atwell on Lip Sync Battle, and so far he's making a solid point for his cause ... by doing a "Toxic" rendition of Britney Spears!
Next Thursday, the two Marvel spies will be facing each other in the Spike TV series, and Agent Coulson is definitely bringing in the big guns for his performance. In a recent clip for the upcoming battle, the actor not only goes drag but he full-on channels the Pop Princess, doing a very hairy and muscly impression of the song's iconic clip.
Wearing the short flight attendant dress from Spears' clip, Gregg, who first appeared on the Hollywood radar on the Julia Louis-Dreyfus-led New Adventures of Old Christine, goes back to his comedy roots with a killer rendition of the song and surprisingly smooth choreography. Then again, if he constantly trains in fight choreographies for his show, why wouldn't he be good with dancing?
In any case, SHIELD director Coulson definitely has the legs for it!
It's still unclear what his opponent will be lip-syncing in this week's episode, but Atwell can be seen laughing during Gregg's performance and obviously enjoying his choice of song. There's also a clip of Gregg and Atwell promoting their Lip Sync Battle appearance, where the two playfully discuss how they're fighting to the death once again.
Of course, this is hardly the first time the two ABC MCU shows face each other in lip syncing. While this will be their début on the Spike show, there's a long history of Dubsmash battles involving the rest of the cast of Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter, including Edwin Jarvis actor James D'Arcy and Daisy Johnson actress Chloe Bennet -- and even Captain America himself Chris Evans!
Gregg and Atwell's Lip Sync Battle will air this Thursday on Spike.
