The Flash S02E18 'Versus Zoom' Grant Gustin, Danielle Panabaker, Candice Patton Premiere Recap

The CW network continues with the mid-Season 2 premiere of The Flash. In Episode 18, are Iris West (Candice Patton), Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), the scarlet speedster, ready for the rematch Versus Zoom?

In the flashback, Barry remembers the night his mother murdered. Young Barry found found with Joe and Iris. In Earth 2, years ago, a young boy, Hunter, sees a man with a metal helmet hitting his mother. The boy then witnesses his mother being shot point-blank. 

After Hunter is taken to an institution, back on Earth-1 the Flash puts the device on his chest. The speedster runs all over the city, comes in and out of a portal. Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) debate about re-opening the breach. Iris though has a date with her editor, Scott. 

Joe (Jesse L. Martin) actually agrees with Wells; why kick the hornet's nest again? Jesse offers Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) a place to stay but he rejects him. With Caitlin and Cisco at a loss, Wells reveals Reverb can break through dimensions. The way back to Earth-2 is Cisco. 

After failing twice, Cisco doesn't think he's the right man for the job. Wells visits Joe, asking for his daughter's whereabouts. Wells wants Joe to stop Barry from re-opening the breach. Joe asks Wells to help Barry because he has a better chance of winning with him around.

Wells then gives Cisco his visor to help him vibe a portal. The opening awakens Zoom just when Cisco freaks out. Caitlin and Iris notices the bond between Joe and Barry. Iris couldn't go on her date but Barry is still on her mind. Joe has a room for Wally to live in at his house. 

Cisco reveals he is going to become Reverb. Barry is going to be there for him. Caitlin mentions Hunter Zolomon, a serial killer from Harrison's earth. At the criminally insane, Hunter felt the particle accelerator explosion, which made him a monster.  Hunter died in the electric chair and became Zoom.

Knowing Jay is really Hunter Zolomon, Barry has an idea on how to stop him. Cisco opens up the breach, which allows Zoom to jump through. The two race again through the city.With the device on his chest, the Flash is faster than Zoom. Using his memories against him, the Flash traps Zoom and unmasks him. 

Zoom reveals he doesn't care about how many people kills because he's dying. They both watched their mothers die. As his eyes turn black, Zoom warns Barry that he cannot lock up the darkness and breaks free. The Flash chases after Zoom but he manages to lose him.  

Zoom has totally trashed Joe's place. He will trade Wally for the Barry's speed. With his son missing, Joe is unable to concentrate. As Cisco opens a breach, the trade is done as Cisco takes the speed force. Zoom used a tie remnant to pretend to be Jay Garrick. 

As Barry runs on the tread mill, all his speed force has been siphoned off. After injecting himself, Zoom chokes Barry but Caitlin stops him. Zoom then kidnaps Caitlin and takes her away.
