The Starz series American Gods has added yet another brilliant actor to its stellar cast, as former Prison Break star Peter Stormare joins the live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman's novel as the moody Slavic deity Czernobog. In addition to that, the legendary Cloris Leachman has just been confirmed as his companion Zorya Vechernyaya!
According to TVLine, Stormare and Leachman will appear alongside Snow White and The Huntsman star Chris Obi, who will play Anubis, the Egyptian god of death. Parenthood's Mousa Kraish has also been cast as the mysterious Jinn.
In Gaiman's book, Czernobog is the Slavic god of darkness who forms an unusual alliance with Mr. Wednesday and his bodyguard Shadow Moon. Together, they must gather the ancient deities in a battle against the new gods created by mankind.

Stormare is undoubtedly one of the most recognizable actors in Hollywood, having played several different unusual characters both in film and TV. He is best remembered as the cruel Gaear Grimsrud in the 1996 movie Fargo and has also portrayed Lucifer in Keanu Reeves' Constantine. His most recent appearances were as Werner Zytle/Count Vertigo in the third season of The CW's Arrow and as the voice of the polar bear Corporal in Penguins in Madagascar. Stormare is set to reunite with Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 2.
Mr. Wednesday will be played by Ray Donovan star Ian McShane while The 100's Ricky Whittle will portray Shadow. Emily Browning of Suckerpunch rounds out the main cast of American Gods as Shadow's troubled wife Laura Moon. Most recently, Jonathan Tucker has been added as Low-Key Lyesmith while Charlie's Angels actor Crispin Glover will play Mr. World.
Gaiman has recently confirmed that principal photography for American Gods has already begun and the Good Omens author has already tweeted a few photos from the set.
