'The Voice' 2013, Season 4 Recap: Battle Rounds Premiere Results, Episode 7, Shakira Steals Two of Adam Levine's Singers, Pharrell Williams, Joel Madden, Sheryl Crow, Hillary Scott Chosen as Mentors

NBC's "The Voice" finished up their season 4 blind auditions last week and Monday night Shakira and Usher got their first taste of the battle rounds. In this next round of competition, contestants are pitted against each other with only one moving on. Each coach gets two steals which they can use to take a singer from one of the other coach's battle round losers. Each coach also brings on a celebrity mentor for their team. Adam Levin chose Lady Antebellum's lead singer Hillary Scott, Blake Shelton chose Sheryl Crow, Shakira has Joel Madden, and Usher's team mentor is Pharrell Williams.

Team Adam's first battle round showdown is between Sasha Allen and Amber Carrington. Both singers perform Pink's "I Try," but Adam goes with Amber. Usher and Shakira both want to steal Sasha, but Sasha ends up going over to Shakira's team. Team Adam's second battle of the night was between Judith Hill and Karina Iglesias. Both female singers perform James Browns' "It's a Man's Man's Man's World." Judith gets the win, but Shakira uses both of her steals for the entire season on the first night of battle rounds and steals Karina.

Team Shakira's battle is between Garrett Gardner and J'Sun, who sing The Heavy's "How You Like Me Now?" Shakira chooses Garder and unfortunately for J'Sun no one wants to steal him. In Team Usher's battle, Jess Kellner faced off against Taylor Beckham while singing "You Know I'm No Good" by Amy Winehouse. Jess Kellner moves on, but Blake Shelton steals Taylor Beckham from Usher's team.

Team Blake had two battle round performances last night.  The first featured Holly Tucker against Michelle Raitzin singing Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away." Blake ends up choosing Holly Tucker. In the second standoff, Christian Porter performed Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" against the Swon brothers. Christian Porter unfortunately is defeated and; therefore, sent home.

So there you have it. Shakira and Usher got their first taste of "The Voice's" battle rounds. Shakira already used her two steals for the entire season. A rookie mistake by the Colombian born singer?
