The countdown for the theater premiere of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play, the sequel to J.K. Rowling's story about a boy wizard, shows we are only a few weeks away from the premiere date -- and we're already getting the first look at rehearsals! In a new clip, the author meets with the cast behind the scenes of London's West End event -- and she talks spoilers!
While Rowling has turned into a regular social media queen since joining Twitter, it wasn't actually her who first shared the behind the scenes look into the upcoming play, but rather the Cursed Child official Twitter account. On it, the Harry Potter author sits down with playwright Jack Thorne and director John Tiffany, where the three discuss how excited they are about the show -- and how committed everyone is to keeping the story a secret from the fandom.
"I would like us, if we can, to manage to keep our secrets," Rowling said, after talking about how supportive the Harry Potter fandom is of each of its members, saying they owed them that much. "This will be such an incredible theatrical experience that I'd love us to be able to surprise people and move people in the natural way that stories should surprise people and move people."
As she and the people behind the scenes talked about the project, the clip's background shows the three main actors of the play, namely Jaime Parker (who'll play Harry), Paul Thornley (Ron Weasley), and Noma Dumezweni (Hermione Granger). On it, the three seem to be bonding, which is great news for those who will get to see the play, and apparently working on some wand choreographies.
So far, Rowling has gotten her wish: except for the synopsis, fans know nothing about the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child story. Recently, the author revealed that Draco Malfoy would also be part of the story.
