Last year, Netflix revived the 2001 comedy Wet Hot American Summer with a miniseries that brought back most of the original cast, only with a twist: even though they were all at least in their 40s, the series was a prequel where they played people in their late teens. A year later, Netflix has announced they're following up First Day of Camp with another series -- this time, set 10 years later!

Netflix made the surprise announcement through YouTube this Wednesday, by simply posting a clip from the end of the first movie. On it, part of the crew of counselors meet up and say they should all get together 10 years later, setting the time for 9:30 a.m.

While fans may have taken this to mean the 8-episode miniseries that came out nearly 15 years after the original movie, Netflix had other plans in mind, and Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later will be streaming on the service at some point next year.

While there aren't any details so far regarding the sequel, Jezebel reports the original film and spinoff series writers Michael Showalter and David Wain will definitely be involved again by penning the script, with Wain directing all new episodes, like he did with last year's revival.

When the first film came out in 2001, many of the cast members, then in their 20s or early 30s, were mostly unknown to the general public and have since turned into megastars, most notably Bradley Cooper and Elizabeth Banks; others like Paul Rudd, David Hyde Pierce and Janeane Garofalo were already fairly famous. In any case, by the time the sequel aired in 2015, not only were they well-known stars, they'd gone back to playing kids in their teens -- which is one of the reasons the sequel's so funny, as everyone's obviously way too old to play their roles.

There's no word yet on casting for the sequel, but if they managed to get the cast for last year's project, it seems likely they'll be able to do it again. Expect Wet Hot American Summer: 10 Years Later at some point of 2017.
