Silicon Valley S03E02: Two in the Box Thomas Middleditch, TJ Miller Premiere Recap

From the comedic mind of Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-head), the Season 3 continues with the premiere of Silicon Valley on HBO. In Episode 2, will Erlich Bachman (T.J. Miller), Richard Hendriks (Thomas Middleditch), and the rest of the tech gang survive being Two in the Box?

Richard is diagnosed healthy by his doctor. Even the doctor is surprised Richard has a boss over at his own company. 

Jared (Zach Woods), Dinesh (Martin Starr) and Gilfoyle (Kumail Nanjiani) join Elrich and Richard at their new office. They are all shocked by the new logo, which was redesigned by Jack Barker (Stephen Tobolowsky). They will have an engineering room but Richard is worried if they can afford this new thing.

Barker believes the more brilliant people they hire, the growth will be faster to make the best possible product. Gilfoyle and Dinesh play rock, papers, scissors of the better cubicle. Now that Pied Piper has been funded, Jared can move back to his condo.

Back at Hooli, Belson (Matt Ross) yells at his small staff employees. He wants his staff to outrank the bad press and alter the neutrality algorithm. Jared realizes he has lost his apartment to a freeloader.  

Richard and his team meet the new sales people working at Pied Piper. They don't even have the platform ready to sell. Barker promises they are the best but at the meeting, Richard fails in pitching his idea. Richards screws up between selling to business and consumers. 

Richard chases after Barker just as he was about to rush out the door. Barker has to speed up the four-year process to make revenue. They will have to modify Pied Piper to make enterprise. Barker is already compromising the product.

Elrich tries to kick out his roommate, Jin Yang, and destroys his gift. Dinesh is playing solitaire on his touchscreen as Richard explains their business ends. Gilfoyle thinks Barker knows what he's doing with business-facing.

The Nucleus team may have stumbled upon something at their algorithm. As Kin Yang figures out how to stay at Elrich's place, the Nucleus team has cracked Richard's algorithm and plan on selling it to a different company. Richard screws up at the business meeting and searches for Barker.   

Richard finally makes the pitch he's been looking for at Barker. Unfortunately, Barker just wants the stock to go up. The sales people twist Richard's idea and data compression for government security.
