The CW Network continues with Season 2 of The Flash. With the identity behind the super-villain Zoom (voiced by Tony Todd) revealed, Twitter had lots to say about the relationship twist between the future Iris-West Allen (Candice Patton) and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin).
In our previous recap, Central City felt the full wrath of Zoom as he murdered a squad full of police officers in cold blood. With the city in dire need of a hero, Iris finally proclaimed her love for Barry. Iris helplessly watched as Barry felt the full effect of the particle accelerator explosion again. She burst into tears when Barry was vaporized right in front of her.
In our recent recap, though Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Jesse (Violett Beane) survived the blast, Iris witnessed the arrival of zombie Girder. While Girder was on a destructive path, Barry found himself stuck in the Speed Force. After dealing with the tragic death of his mother, Barry was ready to return home. After hearing Iris' voice, The Flash returned better than ever, rescuing her from zombie Girder.
In an interview with Zap2it, Patton explains what drew her to Iris, ""For me it's always been more about the story and the heart and the family behind the superhero, rather than the theatrics and the special effects and the CGI. That stuff is the icing on the cake, but if you don't have a great story as the base, you don't have anything to stand on. I think our show has accomplished that in a way that crosses over viewers of all races, creeds and ages. That's such an awesome thing."
