HBO continues with Season 6 of Game of Thrones. In the aftermath of Jon Snow (Kit Harington)'s death, Twitter had lots to say about Brother Ray (Ian McShane)'s surprising entrance and that Sandor "The Hound" Clegane (Rory McCann) twist .
In our recent recap, as Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) worked together to find allegiances to House Stark, Margery (Natalie Dormer) warned her grandmother she's secretly playing sides between The High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce) and Cersei (Lena Headey). Jamie Lannster (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is setting up his attack against Blackfish (Clive Russell).
Elsewhere, while Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) was being punished and stabbed for her betrayal, The Hound was living a normal and hard-working life amongst the poor. Brother Ray preached to The Hound that God is done with him yet; it's never to late to come pack. The Hound picks up an axe when he discovers the entire village and Brother Ray dead.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, McShane teases his role, "It was one episode, for a start, which is why I wanted to do it. Obviously he's going to die. But when I read it, it's nice. It's like he's holding an improvised meeting - not Alcoholics Anonymous, but Murderer's Anonymous. He's an ex warrior who's grown tired of the murdering life and trying to lead another kind of life. But I think my main use was to re-introduce a character people thought was long gone and who needed some humanity. The Hound has not been shown much humanity in his life, and he gets a little from Brother Ray and carries that forward into his character, which makes it more interesting for those who watch him. Also, my daughter, who's an avid watcher of the show, was like, "Oh, The Hound! That will be good!"
