Two decades after voicing a handful of villains in the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series way back in the 90s, multiple award-winning actor Bryan Cranston is returning to the franchise -- this time as Zordon, the floating head that assembles the teenage team of superheroes. So what's it like to be part of the Rangers movie for the man best known for playing Walter White in Breaking Bad?
The actor recently sat down with Entertainment Tonight Online to talk about the project, only days after it was announced he'd be leading the five teens against Elizabeth Banks' Rita Repulsa.
Revealing the character is "motion capture, and it's a lot of CGI-work," the actor dished what are some of the motifs behind Zordon as a character.
"The tenant of that storyline is that this a real person who is trapped in this etherworld and it becomes this in-the-wall so to speak of [the command center]," said Cranston. "He still has a heart and mind, but an agenda that he's got to get these five Power Rangers to defend the Earth or else everyone they know will be killed."
Little is known so far about the Power Rangers movie, except for the fact that it's supposed to be a reboot of the story, which has taken other forms and involved many characters over the course of these two decades. Cranston and Banks are the only big names attached to the project, as all five actual Rangers are being played by unknown actors: Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger Kimberly Hart, Becky G. as the Yellow Ranger Trini, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger Zack Taylor, RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger Billy Cranston and Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger Jason Lee Scott.
In the 90s, Cranston voiced a few characters in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and, years later, the producers of the show told the world that the surname of the original Blue Ranger, Billy (played in the 90s by David Yost), was actually Cranston, in honor of the Oscar-nominated actor.

Of course, in the years since his voice work in Power Rangers, Cranston has turned into one of the most respected actors in the world, winning multiple awards for his work in AMC's Breaking Bad, a show so popular it even spanned a prequel series on the same channel, Better Call Saul.
The Power Rangers movie will hit theaters in the U.S. on March 24, 2017.
