It's been five years since the last installment of the boy wizard's film series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, reached theaters in 2011, and Draco Malfoy actor Tom Felton has been playing a variety of jerks on the big screen ever since. Now, the 28-year-old Hogwarts alum is trying his hand at another franchise: he's joining season 3 of CW's The Flash!

According to Nerdist, the Harry Potter alum is the latest star to join the cast of the DC superhero series, as he's set to become a regular in the show. The Britishstar will be playing Julian Dorn, a new CSI specialist joining the Central City Police Department who "suspects there's more to Barry Allen than just his good guy reputation."

The character doesn't come from the comics, and is actually original to the show.

After the first wave of support from fans, Felton took to Instagram to thank fans for the outpour of love regarding his casting in The Flash.

In the years since the last Potter film hit theaters, Felton has played a few Draco-like characters, including the guy who physically and emotionally abuses ape Caesar to the point of collapse in Rise of the Planet of the Apes and a racist 18th century aristocrat in the 2014 drama Belle. He's also taken part in a few TV projects, including Murder in the First and Full Circle.

The actor is generally keeping pretty busy these days, with five projects lined up for this year alone, and that's without including his new role in The Flash.

Still, Felton is not the only one of the Harry Potter cast members who has gone on to make it on his own. While there's little doubt that it's Hermione actress Emma Watson who has been making the most headlines in the past few years between her feminist work for the United Nations and her future as a Disney princess in Beauty and the Beast, Harry himself Daniel Radcliffe has also been involved in a lot of interesting projects, and so has Bill Weasley actor Domhnall Gleeson, who these days works with Kylo Ren in a galaxy far, far away.
