The 2016 Global Citizen Festival will kick off on Saturday, September 24, in New York City's Central Park, and the fifth-annual event is boasting a larger-than-life lineup for this year's festival. Musical appearances are scheduled to include Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Selena Gomez, Major Lazer, Metallica, and, most recently, Demi Lovato was added to the bill.

Unlike typical concerts and festivals, tickets to Global Citizens Festival must be earned through philanthropic efforts--fans can win tickets to the festival via a lottery by earning points for taking action in one's community, reaching out to world leaders, signing petitions or speaking up on social media.

On the resale market, tickets are available for purchase, currently averaging $356, with the cheapest ticket priced at $55, according to data provided by TicketIQ.

Additional artists are scheduled to make special guest appearances throughout the event, including Chris Martin of Coldplay. Martin is also the event's current creative director, and is on board to fulfill this role for the upcoming 15 years in an effort to end global poverty by the year 2030, with the help of this festival.

Other guests scheduled to appear include Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Usher, Ellie Goulding and many more. Along with musical guests, various celebrities will be hosting and speaking at the event as well. Some of this year's celebrity guests include Chelsea Handler, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra and Seth Meyers. Parking in New York City can be secured easily and ahead of the festival through Parkwhiz.com for fans who have to finalize their travel to Central Park.

The first Global Citizen Festival, which launched in September of 2012, hosted more than 60,000 people in its first year in NYC, and since then, has featured iconic and popular artists such as the Foo Fighters, The Black Keys, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, The Roots, Carrie Underwood and countless others. This year, the festival will also be broadcasted live on MSNBC.
