"Gotham" season 3 episode 3 'Look Into My Eyes' gave a deeper look at featured villain of the week: Jervis Tetch a.k.a. the Mad Hatter. Creepy and mysterious, the Mad Hatter is unlike any other villain that the city has ever encountered before. He is not just pure evil but he can gain complete control of anyone and make them do things against their will.
According to a review released by Den of Geek, Jervis' ability to control people's minds makes him the most powerful villain of all. In 'Look Into My Eyes,' Jervis was able to persuade Jim to almost taking his life. He laid out to Jim every pathetic aspect of his lonely life and hypnotized him. This is very frightening since Jim has always displayed strength which makes him a formidable Batman.
Of course the episode also featured Jim and Bruce finally proving that together they make a really great team. Bruce is the character who seeks justice while Jim has the strength and bitterness that Batman is also known for. The episode ends with Tetch's sister Alice being handcuffed together with Jim and the announcement that Oswald Cobblepot or The Penguin will officially run for mayor of Gotham.
It is also clear that Tetch, like The Penguin, will be present in future episodes of "Gotham" and not just be another villain that will simply fade into the limelight. Considering his deadly powers, he could even be there till the end of this season.
Meanwhile, episode 4 entitled 'New Day Rising' is up next week and fans are already speculating what will happen to the Mad Hatter, Bruce and Jim.
According to Comicbook, Penguin will become more powerful as he becomes nominated for Mayor of Gotham. He will persuade the people that he is exactly what the city needs. Jim will take Alice to the Gotham City Police Department in exchange for a bounty. And since Bruce's doppelganger has appeared in episode 3, Bruce and Alfred look for the man since he has assumed Bruce's identity.
"Gotham" Season 3 'Mad City: New Day Rising' will be aired October 10, Monday at 8 p.m. PT on Fox.
