A lot has happened since Katy Perry's 2010 hit album "Teenage Dream." The "Fireworks" singer was married and divorced to British funny man, Russell Brand, she dated and broke up with John Mayer, and went on tour; now Perry has a new story to tell. She confirmed to MTV that she is almost halfway done with her new album "Schizophrenic."
"When I put myself on a timeline, when I tell the record company when I want to release the album, that's when the race starts," she said on Thursday at ASCAP's I Create Music Expo, according to Billboard. "That's when I put pressure on myself."
Perry is working with some of the biggest names in the industry such as Sia, Max Martin, Dr. Luke, Greg Wells and Bonnie McKee. "Max and Luke push me the most. As a team we have certain strengths," she said. "With Max, it's melody choices, Luke is production and I'm topline and melody."
Working with Bonnie McKee "is like an emotional abuse session," she told Billboard. "Bonnie and I argue (like) we're in the ring fighting for the best lyric. We presented 'Teenage Dream' three times (before it was recorded)."
Perry gave a hint of what to expect on her upcoming album tweeting:
"You know the 90's are back when you're voluntarily putting record scratches in your songs a la Portishead's Dummy."
She even gave wind of a possible new song title, "Double Rainbow." A song title she came up with after a yoga workout.
Perry and her team have yet to announce an album release date.
