Tension was in the air at the second US 2016 presidential election debate held in Washington University in St. Louis. Republican nominee Donald Trump bashed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton for her email controversy. He vowed that she would be put into prison if he is elected president.
And as his comeback for allegations that he was sexually aggressive towards women, Donald Trump claimed that he met with three women who accused former Bill Clinton of sexual harassment before the debate.
Donald Trump was armed and ready for any attacks from Hillary Clinton especially on his said negative comments about women. He was speechless for a while when a video of him discussing his sexual aggression towards women emerged.
In the video, he was showing off how he was able to forcibly kiss and fondle women. But Trump gained his composure and merely said that these were all "locker room talk." He said that these were incomparable to Bill Clinton who abused women during his term.
According to the Independent, a number of professional athletes negated Trump's description of an actual sports locker room. They said that demeaning words against women were never their topic in their respective locker room areas.
After the video controversy, Trump directed the attention to Clinton that if he wins the election he will tell his attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into Hillary's case. He mentioned that the Democratic candidate has told so many lies, deceived the people and should be ashamed of her actions. Hillary responded by saying that it was good that a person with Trump's temperament is not in charge of the law.
According to a report in the Telegraph, one of the most awkward moments of the debate was when Donald Trump said that he disagreed with his vice presidential candidate Mike Pence. The Republican vice presidential candidate mentioned in the last vice presidential debate that the US should be prepared to use military force if this is needed in Syria.
Trump said that he and Pence have not spoken about this and that he disagrees with this plan. Meanwhile, Mike Pence congratulated Trump on the debate and said that he was proud to stand by him as they #MAGA or "Make America Great Again."
Clinton also commented that she was furious that Russia is trying to push the elections in Trump's favor using email hacks. Finally, the night ended with a question for both the candidates. The question was what they respected about each other.
Clinton was quick to respond saying that she respected Trump's children. She specifically said that his kids are "incredibly able" and she thinks that this says a lot about their father. Trump, on the other hand, said that he thinks that Hillary does not quit and does not give up. He said that he admires Hillary as a fighter.
The two presidential candidates did not shake hands at the start of the second US presidential debate. At the end, they had a short, awkward handshake and then left the stage.
