The Trailer for " A Monster Calls " is out in honor of national "Face Your Fears Day".
How about a monster movie for Christmas? No horror here though, just do expect a drama or fantasy with spectacular visual effects as per acclaimed director Juan Antonio Bayona ("The Impossible"). The film is based on the award-winning children's fantasy novel.
Originally, the release for this feature film was supposedly set sometime later this October. This is according to slashfilm. But because of a critical reaction from the Toronto International Film Festival, Focus Features felt that the movie is deserving of a far more prime award season therefore moving the release date 2 day before Christmas.
As fans know, J.A. Bayona is directing while closely working with the script writer Patrick Ness, who also happens to be the writer of the very novel adapted by the movie. "A Monster Calls" is said to be released on December 23 of this year. Also in the lineup for a holiday release are Assassin's Creed, Animated film "Sing", Passengers, Gold, Fences and Why Him.
The movie tells a tale of a boy seeking for the help of a monster to help him deal with the challenges he faces. These include coping with mother's sickness and being bullied by his classmates. The movie is sure to warm fans' hearts with the boy's will to seek courage to face his fears and losses. This film is shaping up to be one of the most exciting movies this coming holiday season.
The young main character Conor will be played by Lewis MacDougall who played as Nibbs in the fantasy movie, "Pan". Other cast member includes Felicity Jones who will also be starring as Jyn Erso in "Rogue One: A Star Wars". As if that doesn't sound enticing enough, the movie's Monster character will be voice by the Taken movie franchise action star Liam Neeson.
