The Rock And Rock Roll Hall of Fame held its 28th annual induction ceremony, Thursday at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Several of the music industry's top stars such as Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Rowland, John Mayer, and Usher paid homage to inductees with a medley of performances.

While Jennifer Hudson paid tribute to Summer, with a medley of her hits, John Mayer and his famous guitar honored inductee Albert King.

Oprah Winfrey was on hand to welcome Jones into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Usher lauded the producer-mogul with a rendition of the Michael Jackson tune "Rock with You," The Huffington Post Reported.

Among those inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum, was Canadian trio band, Rush. The mention of the band, won a two-minute-long standing ovation for Rush, according to Rolling Stone.  

Another shocking moment of the night, was Oprah Winfrey's surprise appearence to induct Quincy Jones, who casted her in The Color Purple.   "When you work with Quincy Jones, you feel loved and are loved," she said.

Thursday's event concluded with all-star jam session featuring Rush, Heart, Chuck D, Grohl, Chris Cornell, Tom Morello and others riffing together on stage.

The event marks the first time since 1993 that the Cleveland, Ohio, institution has held its induction ceremony on the West Coast. It will be broadcast May 18 on HBO, according to Fox News.
