Back in 1984, Freddy Krueger was introduced the world to in the movie "A Nightmare on Elm Street" by director Wes Craven. Krueger, the burnt-face, razor-gloved, red-and-green sweatshirt wearing villain, attacked and killed teenagers in their dreams, which leads to their death in the real world.
The antagonist was brilliantly brought to life by actor Robert Englund, and his portrayal of the character, since the first "A Nightmare on Elm Street" movie, turned the character into nightmare fuel for generations. With reports from 2015 saying that New Line Cinema has plans to do another remake of the beloved franchise, a question has to be asked: Who should wear Freddie Krueger's bladed gloves?
Jackie Early Haley tried his hands on the iconic gloves in the 2010 remake. While the movie made a "killing" with the ticket sales, critics did not approve. Now hunt is on for the new fedora-toting serial killer.
In a recent article by Hollywoodlife, Kevin Bacon showed interest in doing Freddy Krueger. Bacon, known for the movie "Footloose", spotted a fan tweet requesting for him to play the role, and him liking it. This simple exchange raised some hype, with more people hoping for the remake to happen, and Bacon wearing the trademark glove.
Interestingly, he was part of the movie "Friday the 13th", another "slasher film" that gave birth to another iconic character, Jason Voorhees. Jason, like Freddie, rose to cult status during their heyday and made fans drool when they finally met up at the movie "Freddy Vs. Jason".
While most reports from Inquisitr would point out on getting a new actor to play as Freddie Krueger, Englund, the franchise veteran and the original Freddie, would still want to be part of the remake film, even as a cameo. This would surely a "hat's off" to the originals, while breathing fresh air to the immortalized icon of the franchise.
