Samsung might not admit it, but they are totally stoned with their fantasy of ever beating Apple. Their leaked Samsung Chromebook Pro can't even be classified as a challenger to any of Apple's products in the laptops category. This is because the thing is insufficiently cooked and shouldn't appear in the same buffet as Apple's MacBook Pro and Microsoft's Surface Pro 5. All the same, without being biased the Samsung Chromebook has been met with mixed reactions, especially now that its features have been leaked.
According to Tech Times, the Samsung Chromebook Pro will feature a 12.3 inch touchscreen display that comes with a stylus pen. Its 360 degree hinge will allow it to transform into a tablet easily. The hinge and the stylus pen are part of what creates a delusion that Samsung actually wants to compete with Microsoft's Surface Pro 5. All the same, the Chromebook Pro will have a scrawnier 2K display and also run on Chrome OS. Samsung's decision to run this device on Chrome OS is a misguided move. At the least of considerations, Chrome OS is still very new in the market and its viability can't be compared to that of traditional Operating Systems, like Mac OS X and Windows 10.
The cheaper price however, means that people will want to try it out. Remember, with Chrome OS you can directly install android apps without the need of third party Android app players. Techno blink published that this laptop will have a $499 price tag on it and will have a 2GHZ hexa-core terminal, beneath its aluminum sheath. However, it will have a little to offer in terms of storage, since it will have a 32 GB solid state drive on it.
The Samsung Chromebook Pro can only compete favorably with other brands using Chrome OS. The product wouldn't stand a chance if put in the ring together with the likes of MacBook Pro or Microsoft's Surface books and tablets. Acer's new entry into the Chromebook series, the Acer R13 Hybrid, is a good proposition that Samsung can go try to pick a fight with.
