Well that didn't last long. After just two episodes, NBC's new dating reality show "Ready for Love" has been pulled. The dating show, produced by "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria lasted just two shows before being cancelled. The show aired just twice on its Tuesday night time slot on NBC at 10pm before being replaced with the show "Grimm." The show also featured Bill and Giuliana Rancic as the hosts of the show that never got off to the right start after poor ratings.
If you watched NBC at all over the last few months you likely saw a slew of promos and commercials for "Ready for Love." NBC clearly was trying to hype the show up as the TV's new must-see dating show, but it looks like viewers have spoken by not watching. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the premiere only pulled in 3.8 million viewers, while in the shows second week the ratings dropped 13% in the key 18-49 demographic.
The supernatural drama "Grimm" will take over for "Ready for Love's" 10pm time slot through May 21, with "Dateline" taking "Grimm's" time slot at 9pm on Friday night's. It's still unclear if the remaining episodes of "Ready for Love" will ever air. The show featured three professional matchmakers attempting to find matches for three bachelor's.
This is just an assumption on my part, but my guess is NBC wasn't willing to risk further hurting their ratings after a disastrous sweeps period just a few months ago. The network has had a difficult time finding a show to take over the Tuesday night, 10pm time slot. "Smash" also failed miserably this season and has since been moved to Saturday evenings.
It seems like for now "Ready for Love" is a goner from NBC programming with the network still on the lookout for programs that can help stabalize the network's ratings. Did you watch "Ready for Love?" If so, what did you think of the show?
