X-23, Logan's clone is confirmed

Wponx, the film Logan's official Instagram page has released a photo of the little girl in the trailer named Laura played by Dafne Keen. As we all know X-23 alter ego goes by the name of Laura Kinney, This character is now confirmed!

In the trailer, Charles Xavier played by Patrick Stewart answered Wolverine, "She's like you. Very much like you."

The trailer shows that the young X-23 will be in action at least a little bit, showing a tiny glimpse of Laura using her claws in a fight scene. Slashfilm also confirms Laura to be in action, the trailer also shows a scene where Logan says "They're gone now." while having a drink in the cemetery. That and the photo (that was also uploaded in wponx) showing a scribble on a public bathroom door saying "Where are all the mutants?" hints that the mutants have been hunted down by humans.

X-23 stands for the 23rd experimental attempt to replicate the Weapon X program where they infused adamantium in Wolverine's skeleton making him the powerful mutant he came to be. After 22 experimental failures, the program worked on Laura Kinney. Much like Wolverine X-23's mutation allows her superhuman strength, reflexes, agility, and incredible healing factor.

X-23's character follows the footsteps of Wolverine of being quite the loner, she soon teams up with groups like the X-Men and the X-Force. X-23 unlike wolverine, only has 2 retractable claws on each of her hands. Also a big difference from the two is the fact that X-23's skeleton isn't completely infused with adamantium like Wolverine, but her claws are coated with the rare and indestructible metal.

Since the character of Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman seems to nearly come at an end, is it fair to assume that X-Men fans will be seeing more movies of X-23 in the future? The film Logan is directed by James Mangold while the script in written by David James Kelly. The film is set to hit the cinemas on March 3 next year.
