Rey’s lineage possibly be revealed on Star Wars 8

When "The Force Awakens" hit the theaters, it left us with a lot of questions. Who are Rey's Parents? What happened to Luke? Why is BB8 so darn cute? Fan theories have been circling around Rey's true parents, her possible connection to the Skywalker, Kenobi and even Solo bloodlines. Interestingly, Episode 8 could shed light on the subject.

While promoting the documentary The Eagle Huntress, Star Wars actress Daisy Ridley, who produced and narrated the documentary, was asked several questions regarding her character Rey's lineage. According to her interview with Vulture, the answer given was "we will see in a year... just sit tight on that question". There was s strong hint, though, that we will get to know more about Rey's parents on the next installment of the franchise, which is set to be released next year.

 Another question that was raised from Screenrant was her possible relation to the character Jyn Erzo, to be played by Felicity Jones, in the movie Star Wars: Rouge One. When asked if Jyn could be Rey's mother, after appearing unprepared for the question and working on the Star Wars timeline on the spot, she dismisses the possibility, but leaves it open. "I mean, I think historically it wouldn't work, because she is ... Darth Vader is there ...  so she would ultimately be my great-grandma; no, she would be my grandma," According to Ripley. "I mean it could happen, especially in a galaxy far, far away." Regarding Rogue One, though, she states that "I have no idea what happens - I know the ending, but I have no idea really what happens in it."

It certainly appears as though Rey's parentage has a huge effect on the trilogy and the galaxy far, far away, especially on how the information is being kept under lock and key. The reveal would definitely be a game changer, though for all its worth, hopefully it would be for the best.
