Season 12 of "American Idol" is down to the top 4 singers after country singer Janelle Arthur was voted off on Thursday by America. The remaining four singers, all girls, are Candice Glover, Kree Harrison, Amber Holcomb, and Angie Miller. It's hard to say there is one front runner, but there definitely is one wild card. Miller has been the best singer at times this season when performing original songs or on her piano. The question is, can she use these strengths to become the next "American Idol?"
Even the shows judges have seemed torn at times on who will be named the season 12 "American Idol." The only thing that seemed certain, was that the females had the upper hand over the male singers. Now, with only four female contestants remaining, the next "American Idol" is anyone's guess.
When talking to The Boot after last Tuesday (April 16) judge Keith Urban sounded just as stumped as everyone else when trying to figure out who would win this season. "We put together our Top 3 last week, and I didn't have Candice in my Top 3," Keith told the website. "She was very close in there, but based on the performances I had seen at that time, I just didn't have her in there. Then last week, she did the most astounding two performances, and for me, it was like, 'OK, she's in my Top 3.' I asked everybody in the audience after the performance, 'Who would win tonight?' and they all said Candice would win. So, that changed from Kree the week before, to Candice."
You can argue Candice Glover has consistently been the best singer all season. However, 18-year-old Angie Miller has proven she can steal the show with the right song and right performance. Miller has been up and down at times, but when performing an original song or showcasing her musical capabilities behind the piano, Miller has wowed the judges.
On Wednesday night Miller performed The Pretenders' "I'll Stand by You" and dedicated the song to her hometown of Boston following the Boston Marathon bombings. Miller got great reviews from the judges following the emotional song. So can Miller wow the judges again this Wednesday night and move on to the top 3?
If Twitter gives fans any clue as to what Miller will perform next, maybe it will be a Jessie J song. Miller recently tweeted, "Pretty sure I would die if @JessieJ followed me... OR sang with me at the finally.... #fangirl #DreamBig =D" Then Miller retweeted @beautifuLtiffyy "who tweeted, "you should preform "who you are" by Jessie j on the finale or one of these next weeks. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Will Miller be performing a Jessie J song soon? We will have to wait until Wednesday night to see.
