Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield is somewhat of a Twitter celebrity, so today he used his account to wish us all a happy Earth Day and even tweeted some great photos of our planet from his space station. The commander of the International Space Station uses his free time to teach those who are curious about space. With today's pictures, he posted some great inspirational words as well. Last week he also posted another video in his series of responses to space station questions. This time he talked about wringing out a wet towel in space.
After showing off the coolly compacted NASA washcloth package, Hadfield unraveled the tightly compressed cloth and soaked it in water. Then the experiment began. As he wrung out the cloth, you start to hear the reaction from the crowd watching.
"It's becoming a tube of water," Hadfield said in the video while wring out the water from the washcloth. "The water is all over my hands. In fact, it wrings out of the cloth into my hands."
He described it as "Jell-O," too! Here is the video:
Understandably, while we all celebrate Earth down here on the planet, Commander Hadfield celebrates from orbit. Thanks to his Twitter account we get to see some great shots of the planet that we are all celebrating today.
