The buzz around Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby grows exponentially by the day and-as is often the case with Luhrmann movies- the hype isn't about the movie itself. No, what has the public's interest piqued is the star-studded, Jay-Z helmed soundtrack and the bits and pieces that have come out of it. Today, we have our first full track from the film of any worth, Lana Del Rey's "Young and Beautiful."
The track comes at the crescendo of a hype blitz from the film. First, we had the news that Beyonce and Andre 3000 would cover the late Amy Winehouse's "Back in Black." Then, we had the tracklist. After that, we had a teaser sampler that gave us 30-second snippets of all of the songs on the soundtrack (oh, and the Fergie contribution landed with a sickening thud). Now, there's "Young and Beautiful" the dreamy track from ultra-divisive retro-ish singer Lana Del Rey.
Listen to the track in full, below:
"Will you still love me when I'm no longer young and beautiful / Will you still love me when I got nothing but my aching soul / I know you will, I know you will / I know that you will," Lana croons in the chorus to the track.
The soundtrack to The Great Gatsby will drop May 7 (two days before the film's release) and is available to pre-order on iTunes right now. The soundtrack will feature contributions from Will.i.am, Fergie, The xx, Beyonce, Andre 3000, Florence + The Machine, Sia and, of course, Ms. Lana Del Rey herself.
