Jackie Chan has finally received his first Honorary Oscar Academy Award at the Eight Annual Governors Awards in Los Angeles last Sunday night. This is Jackie's dream award after 56 years in the film industry.
According to ET, the 62-year-old actor has received this distinction in his decade-long career. It was Tom Hanks together with Michelle Yeoh and Chris Tucker who presented Jackie Chan's award.
Fans and audience at the Hollywood and Highland Center luckily witnessed the memorable event for Jackie Chan, as per Parent Herald. Tom Hanks said hilariously in his introduction before announcing the award, "Jackie Chan's films have been incredibly serious, and sometimes gruesomely so, as well as incredibly hilarious to the point pop delighting millions of people and viewers around the globe."
Not only the event due to the award is the record-breaking, but also the emotions of Jackie Chan and his fellow actors and actresses, that was extremely happy when Jackie was called for the award. Jackie Chan graciously accepted the award and said that his father has a long time waiting for him to take home an Oscar award.
During his speech, Jackie Chan stated, "My dad always said, 'Son, you get so many movie awards in the world, when are you going to get one of these?'" he revealed, while pointing out to the award on his hands that he received. "Then I'll just look at my dad, 'Dad, I only make comedy action movies.'"
Jackie Chan also shared a short statement with regards his life about being an actor for 56 years. "After 56 years in the film industry, and making over 200 films, I have broken so many bones, finally this is mine," he said.
"I want to thank you, Hong Kong, for being such an incredible city, my hometown and my hood, who make me, Jackie Chan. China, my country, I am proud to be a Chinese. Thank you also, Hollywood, for all of those years of teaching me so many things, and also make me a little bit famous. I am just honored to be here, Jackie Chan gladly said.
